Descent: Underground Enters Steam Early Access Gamer

2 minutes read

If you like first-person spaceship games that have you going underground and flying with six degrees of freedom, then Descent: Underground might be something worth checking out. The devs describe their work as a true FPS that gives you all six degrees of freedom as you want it.

Based on the old 1995 series of the game that ended in 1999, the first-person underground shooter finally stepped into the 21st century with a new version called Descent: Underground. As expected, you will be underground and battle all sorts of mysterious things that lurk underneath the surface of an abandoned base. You can read the description below.

Like the past games in the series, Descent Studios plans to give players that free-motion of exploring the environment with a floating craft. So in other words, the game will still play out like the original Doom, except you are not a fast moving human but a fast-moving craft.

In addition to this, Descent: Underground is both a modern on take of the older versions and a prequel to the first game at the same time. If that sounds cool, you can catch the latest video that Descent Studios sent out, showing the latest version of Descent‘s single player seen below.

As of now, the game holds a positive rating on Steam and seems to be favored by many fans of the series, both new fans and originals of the series, which is a good thing if the devs can capture the essence of what made the original so great.

The game is running on the Unreal Engine 4, and received a new update fixing quite a few of the bugs. If you want to hop in on the action and check out the latest update for Descent: Underground, you can head on over to Steam and play it for $29.99. For those that want more info, you can hit up
