Mushihimesama’s Re-Release On PC Is Met With Gushing Reviews On Steam Gamer

2 minutes read

Cave Interactive put together an HD re-release of their bullet-hell shoot ’em up for Steam, which originally graced arcades but then eventually ended up on the Xbox 360. The game is now available on PC via Steam for $19.99. Mushihimesama may be a mouthful to say but gamers seem to find that it’s a worthwhile tribute to an arcade sub-genre that hasn’t received a lot of love in recent years.

The game features a princess riding a bug, fighting other bogs across five different, massive stages. The game features three different game modes for players of varying skill levels, including an Arrange mode, an Arcade mode and a Novice. There are also varying difficulty settings per mode, so it changes up the gameplay and mechanics while also offering players differing degrees of bullet-hell carnage.

You can see some of the gameplay and thoughts on the game from YouTuber Diceman82.

The game also sports hand drawn backgrounds, keyboard optimization, local co-op play and Steam achievements for those completionists out there.

If you’re into SHUMPs then this seems like a no-brainer. If you don’t really like fast-paced arcade games or you aren’t into the anime designs then you’ll likely want to look elsewhere for your kicks. You can learn more about the game or pick up a digital copy by visiting the Steam store page.
