After being Kickstarted, Greenlit and making it through the Early Access phase on Steam, Dreamatrix has officially launched Wave of Darkness. The game is available right now on the Steam store for $29.99, but for the first week of availability you can get your hands on it for 30% off the normal price for only $20.99.
The game is supposed to be an isometric-style sandbox ARPG. It’s designed to look similar to Diablo and affords players a wide array of quests and locations to visit. One of the core features of the game is to be able to develop your class as you see fit and even switch character classes later in the game without having to re-roll a new character.

The game had a dedicated audience of hardcore fans helping out during its tenure in Early Access, but not everything the fans helped the devs with seemed to reach over into the casual audience who haven’t been keeping track of the game since its inception and progress through the crowd-funding and independent development phases.
A few users point out how difficult the game is to play because the tutorials don’t properly explain how to play and what to do, and that it was required to search around on Google to find the appropriate ways to access certain quests that players were supposed to complete during the tutorial phase.
You know things aren’t great when players have problems with the tutorial phase.
The team did make a few quick fixes to the game in patch 1.50 for Wave of Darkness, as noted in the Steam update. However, that doesn’t really address the game’s tutorial and playability issues.
At the moment Wave of Darkness has a mixed rating on Steam and depending on how the devs address some of the complaints will ultimately determine which way the pendulum falls, whether it be negative or positive.
