With Fallout 4’s hype busting off the charts, some gamers just can’t wait any longer to experience a new generation of Fallout. Well, if you’re strapped for cash and can’t afford the newest game but you already own GTA V, you’re in luck because there’s a Fallout: San Andreas mod available and it’s currently in its alpha state but it offers gamers a ton of the same features they fell in love with from Bethesda Softworks.
Designed by modder Hingo, the single-player mod opens players up to a world in GTA V that becomes governed by a VATS combat system, the ability to interact with NPCs with branching dialogue options, as well as partake in open-world quests, build a party of NPCs that follow you around, utilize a stealth mode and utilize an overhauled inventory system. You can see what the mod looks like in action with the neatly edited video below.
Designed and scripted in #C, Hingo plans on finishing all of the systems and enabling other modders to expand the quest-lines, add in new NPC companions and expand the game world. According to Hingo…
All the basic combat, inventory and dialogue mechanics have been implemented. If a modder was actually skilled enough they could even implement their own custom dialogue.
This is a project that Hingo makes in his free time, however. So don’t expect this to rival the likes of the original Fallout 3 or Fallout: New Vegas. Even still, the VATS is highly impressive and the slow-mo deaths look about on par to how it does in the upcoming Fallout 4.
If you want to check out this single-player mod while you wait for Fallout 4, you can do so by downloading the free mod from over on GTA5-Mods.com.
