Fatal Frame Coming To Wii U September 27th Gamer

Now here’s something you probably didn’t see coming… or maybe you did because you’re psychic. But either way, Tecmo Koei and Nintendo are joining forces once more for a brand new entry in the popular, horror-niche franchise . The game is scheduled to arrive this fall, exclusively on the Wii U.

According to an article on Polygon,  Fatal Frame: The Black Haired Shrine will put players in the role of Kozukata Yuuri, a medium with the ability to see ghosts, and they must travel to a certain “mountain of death” where it’s possible for the living to cross-over into the realm of the dead. Why Yuuri heads to the mountain and what she plans to do there is anyone’s guess, but along the way she’ll encounter plenty of ghosts, ghouls, undead and ghastly looking specters.

As per usual, players will be able to “capture” ghosts using the camera. Majority of the gameplay I imagine will be focused on exploration and some running and hiding.

There’s a brief promotional trailer for the game below, which showcases some rather impressive visual effects from the Wii U. Check it out.

Dat subtle specular lighting.

The Wii U definitely has a snazzy GPGPU working under the hood and it appears that with the right team the games can look phenomenal. There’s an almost CG quality appeal to the 3D imagery of Wii U titles, as evident in games like or the upcoming for the Wii U.

Nevertheless, is yet another notch on the belt for Tecmo Koei and Nintendo in their new-found coalition throughout this eighth generation of gaming. The duo also have set to release in America on September 26th.

is due to launch in Japan on September 27th, and for now there is no North American or European release date set in stone. However, I’ll keep you posted on if or when that changes. For now, you can check out some more media assets for over on the official website.
