Attack On Titan New Teaser Trailer Is Light On Gameplay Gamer

2 minutes read

It’s labeled as a teaser trailer but it clocks in at close to two full minutes. Koei Tecmo and Omega Force’s upcoming Attack on Titan is a 3D, third-person action hack-and-slash title, but both companies have been reluctant to to showcase the game in any capacity that gives gamers a full idea of what to expect from the title.

Hey Poor Player spotted the latest teaser trailer from over on the Koei Tecmo YouTube channel. Now how is a trailer that’s nearly two minutes still a teaser? Well, mostly because it doesn’t really show any gameplay. Majority of the trailer is just marquee of the brand’s success and that the mangas have moved more than 50 million copies. Very impressive. There’s just a few scant seconds of actual gameplay interspersed between the logos and hype. Check it out below.

Graphically the game seems to capture the look and aesthetic from the cartoon. However, the real challenge with a game like this is tying in the dangers and immediacy of the threats that the titans pose in the show and comic books.

A lot of fans have resolved to play Feng Lee’s Attan on Titan: Tribute Game because they feel as if it really captures the essence of the TV show and how fast, unrelenting and unforgiving the titans are from the show. It’s also really easy to die in Feng Lee’s Unity 3D game since there are no life-bars or health meters… you just have to avoid getting squashed or eaten.

In a previous gameplay walkthrough for the PS Vita, PS3 and PS4 version of Attack on Titan they revealed that titans can grab the player out of the air or squash them on the ground. Once a player gets captured it’s not all over, though. It’s possible to cut off the fingers of a titan before being consumed.

For more difficult to kill titans the game also allows players to cut off limbs, making it easier to slice open the nape on the back of their necks. Alternatively, if a player is so badass that they don’t need to weaken a titan to take them out, it’s possible to just go straight for the nape and ignore everything else.

With a release set for 2016 on Sony’s gaming platforms, I’m sure we’ll find out more about the game leading up to launch. Hopefully they won’t wait until the last minute to finally reveal more details about the game.
