We do love our tough-as-nails platformers, don’t we? Ever since Super Meat Boy kicked off the trend of cutesy run-and-jump games with punishing difficulty that reward pure skill, countless similar titles have been testing our might over and over. And stepping up to plate now in that category is Snowflake’s Chance, from developer Carl Morgan, now looking for support on Steam Greenlight. As seen in the trailer below, it’s a classic story about an adorable little rabbit named Snowflake who will wind up dying over and over and over again.
However, these deaths have a limit. One the unique hooks in Snowflake’s Chance is that you only have 99 chances to escape the monstrous world that is The Pit, and you have no means of self-defense aside from sacrificing some fellow animal friends as a distraction. And should you make a very unfortunate misstep, you may even find yourself falling to the very beginning, since The Pit runs through the entire game. Citing the likes of Spelunky and Abe’s Oddysee as inspiration, Snowflake’s Chance does indeed look like it could be some brutal fun, and as the game is practically finished, according to the Greenlight page, so your support there may help see it released sooner than expected.
