PC data miners have been all over the PC beta build of Street Fighter V, ripping apart each and every file to look for every single nook and cranny worth of data they could find out about the game. The latest news from the data mining is that they managed to spot out all 22 characters – including the six DLC characters – through the announcer’s wave files tucked away within the data assets.
Maximilian did a near eight minute video walking through each of the characters that were unveiled through the data mining, including Alex, Urien, Guile, Ibuki, Balrog and Juri. You can check out his video below.
In a way, apart from Zangief, Peter Rosas was right that it doesn’t appear to be any other wrestlers making the initial 2016 roster cut after they introduced R. Mika.
Over on various forums there were debates about whether or not Alex was considered a “wrestler” and many assumed he would be part of the DLC line-up. Well, he is.
Alex was never one of my favorites, but being a lead character throughout the Street Fighter III series only makes sense to have him return in some capacity for Street Fighter V.
Urien was another character that I never really played; his fighting style reminded me of a poor man’s Geese Howard.
It’s nice to see that series regulars Guile and Balrog are making a return, and I couldn’t really care less about Ibuki. She seemed to be one of Capcom’s lazier characters. Juri, on the other hand, reminded me a lot of a mentally whacked out version of May Lee from King of Fighters 2001; they both have similar fighting styles.
Also, Juri was one of the characters that gamers had been begging Capcom for since Street Fighter V was originally announced. So it looks like for some things they are willing to listen to fans.
