Sega and Sonic Team’s Sonic Lost World has officially launched on PC; and as a port the community has opted to give Sega and Sonic Team a pat on the back. The game’s biggest criteria for critical praise is for the fact that the port is decent… not great, but decent. The locked 60fps option already garnered the team some thumbs up from the PC gaming community.
The game originally launched on the Wii U a few years back, but now that it’s on PC it features a few new moves, some locked 60fps gameplay (no need to worry about The Framerate Police getting involved) and full PC keyboard and gamepad support. Someone in the comment section asked “what modding potential” Sonic Lost World holds in the world of PC gaming. Modding on PC? Well there’s the… ugh… must… refrain… from… saying… the… obvious… can’t… resist… Sonic nude mods!
Someone had to say it. I don’t know if it’ll break the internet like Quiet, but Sonic’s being in the adult scene for many years so I think most people should be safe.
In all seriousness (though maybe the previous comments weren’t jokes?) Sonic on PC has already endured some fairly creative endeavors by a small albeit dedicated modding community. The best example of that are the Sonic Generations mods that are incredibly awesome. Check out a complete custom mod of Mystic Cave from Sonic 2 in Sonic Generations, made by JansenM with the video recorded by Cobanermani456
Well, Sonic Lost World has the same modding potential if the community decides to do something with it. As it stands, the Steam denizens don’t seem to mind that the game isn’t great but it’s at least playable and functional on PC.
Steam user ToppestOfDogs stated…
Sonic fan shdwpatrick submitted his first review to Steam and it was for none other than Sonic Lost World, writing…
Spoonister chimed in with the same kind of comments as the other, only this time pointing out that he didn’t feel it was much of a Sonic game, echoing other comments from users that were miffed at the idea that Sonic needed a run button…
Token seemed disappointed in the Wii U version but had little of anything negative to say, mostly pointing out that the game is pretty short and only clocks in at about three hours of total gameplay time. Even still, the game ended up with a thumbs up…
KraxiSpook also dropped the word “decent” in the user review, and felt the lacking graphics options was the biggest drawback, but otherwise it was a decent port…
The reviews all kind of fall along similar lines, repeating that the game is decent, the graphics options suck, the cut-scenes are fit for a Saturday morning cartoon and that the game is generally fun, running at 60fps.
Sonic Lost World is available right now for $29.99 on the Steam store.
