Proximity 3D is a 3D turn-based strategy board game developed by Dr.Ferrous. The objective of the game is to overpower and over take your opponent by placing colored tiles down on the board. The more tiles you have, the stronger you become.
Proximity 3D Is very similar to the classic board game Reversi, where you place colored disks down on the board to turn your opponents disks to your own color, the player with the most colored disks covering the board wins the game. In this regard, Proximity is pretty much the same thing, but with a twist. With Proximity 3D they have now added numbers to your tiles which adds a bit of complexity to the game. I have provided a trailer down below for Proximity 3D so you can see all the new features.
If your opponent’s tiles have a higher number than you and you place one of your pieces down it will simply subtract 2 points from their colored tile, but if you place a piece next to a tile you already own, you will gain 2 points to the existing tile, making it stronger. If your tile is a higher number than your opponent’s tile than you will take them over and gain an extra tile piece, changing all the other tiles around it by either adding points, subtracting points, or taking it over.
YouTuber and original game designer Brian Cable, uploaded a slightly longer video of Proximity HD (renamed to Proximity 2) which was the older game released for the Xbox Live and iPhone back in 2010. Watching the below gameplay video should give you an idea about what you can expect from the new 3D version of Proximity and how the game works.
The new Proximity 3D didn’t just do a graphics overhaul though, they also stepped up the game by adding new game modes, 3 different difficulties, 30 levels, and a fun multiplayer game mode that allows different players to all play on the exact same device. Sound like fun? Well if you are interested in Proximity 3D you can download it now for iOS at the iTunes store, or the Google Play store for Android users.
