While the anticipated open-world sci-fi exploration game No Man’s Sky sort of died out, No Man’s Sky has not been left to its fate. Instead, developer Hello Games has seen fit to work on and release a foundation update patch (version 1.1) just dubbed “Foundation.” The idea here is that Foundation is meant to be, well… a foundation for new features, as well as later updates and improvements. Primarily, Foundation has added a new base-building feature on abandoned outposts and allows players to recruit aliens to man those new outposts. Players can also purchase freighters as portable carriers for what they find, like a mobile base of sorts. There are also now three game modes: Normal Mode, which is the game as it has been until now, then there is Creative Mode that allows users limitless traversal of the universe and extended base-building, finally the new Survival Mode adds challenge and an upkeep of endurance to the game.
Full patch notes are available here. See the trailer for No Man’s Sky’s Foundation update below. Update 1.1 “Foundation” is live now for No Man’s Sky on PC and PlayStation 4.
