Mages of Mystralia is an action/RPG with a cute look and bright colors. Mages of Mystralia is also a game about turning the elements of spells into functioning tools that result in the decimation of all who oppose you, perfectly synched to whatever play style you’d like to use. There’s a lot going on under the game’s magical hood, and while spell creation isn’t all that complicated it still deserves a bit of clarification. When one of a game’s primary hooks is a little tricky to explain and doesn’t show up well in screenshots, a video is just the thing to clear up the issue, so Borealis Games and Dan Adelman have released the first in a short series explaining how the pieces fit together. This one goes over the four types of spells- melee and ranged attacks, creating items or other helpful things, and those that have a direct effect on the spellcaster. It may sound like a lot but it’s actually pretty straightforward, especially seeing as the video focuses on how to create a plain-vanilla fireball. Open up ranged magic, fire element page, and plug in the rune for Move. Check out the video below to see it in action, and get a sense of how the spells can grow as you progress and earn more runes.
