Tim Sweeney, founder of Epic Games, has been confirmed as recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award at this year’s Games Developer Choice Awards. Sweeney is best known as the creator behind acclaimed games such as Unreal as well as being one of the main architects of the Unreal Engine — considered the most used and most popular video game engine by game studios of which is currently in its forth incarnation.
Sweeney joins an exclusive list of respected video game directors/producers/creators whom have also received the Lifetime Achievement award in previous years including Shigeru Miyamoto, Hideo Kojima & Todd Howard to name a few. The Game Developers Choice Awards takes place on March 1 at 6:30 PT during this year’s Game Developers Conference — the awards being livestreamed to those unable to attend in person.
