John Cena Is WWE 2K15’s Cover Athlete Gamer

2 minutes read

Well that didn’t take long. It was promised earlier that this year’s iteration of 2K Game’s WWE video game outing would have its cover athlete revealed and sure enough WWE delivered.

The transitional, undisputed champion (for now) was declared as the cover athlete for the upcoming sports entertainment tile, John Cena. How hilarious would it have been if it happened to be CM Punk? Do you have any idea how flipped out fans would be if the guy who basically gave the middle finger to the company was the cover athlete for the game? I don’t think smarks would be able to stop talking about it. That’s not to mention that it would fuel all sorts of rumors about whether or not Phil “CM Punk” Brooks would resign with the company this July (which seems highly unlikely at this point).

Anyway, the cover athlete was made known via Monday Night RAW, where the honor was bestowed upon John Cena in the middle of the ring near the start of the show, as noted on Hardcore Gamer.

The whole cover athlete reveal is kind of like whatever, but it’s to be expected given that John Cena is this generation’s Hulk Hogan (for better or for worse). I think I’m more excited to find out exactly what’s going to happen at next year’s Wrestlemania.

The IWC seems to believe that Brock will capture the title at Summerslam (which makes sense) and then carry it on over up until next year’s grandest stage of them all. You know what would be the most awesome thing ever? If Daniel Bryan made his recovery by next year’s Royal Rumble, enters, wins the Royal Rumble and then goes on to challenge Brock Lesnar at Wrestlemania. Do you have any idea how marked out fans would be to see Daniel Bryan versus Brock Lesnar at Wrestlemani? Insane.

Anyway, for now all we know about is that new laser scanning technology has been employed by Yukes, courtesy of 2K Sports. According to the Chicago Tribune the same face scanning tech that was used for NBA 2K14 will be used for , which could be pretty cool as far as graphics go for the new generation home consoles. Also, when 2K start releasing the WWE games on PC? Seriously, no love for the Glorious PC Master Race? So much hate.

I’ll keep you posted on additional updates regarding . In the meantime, feel free to check out the official cover art for the game below.
